Thanks Big Key.
I saw the all white 56 Patrician from afar, but did not get to look it over. I must confess, I did take some pictures, with my IPad. How can I upload from the IPad to this site? Normally I have to send the pictures to my laptop and load them from there. The 51 Patrician that participated in the Great Race, did quite well in it.

Very nice photos! thanks. I noted that Hemmings showed up with their 51 300. Glad they were able to attend. Lots of beautiful cars - one of these days I'll have to get back to Texas in time for Salado. I wonder if any of Jim Hollingsworth's cars showed up? I saw a 40 French Blue 120 that sure looked like his.

Howard,
The Caribbean is equipped with a Delco ignition system. As you know, the Delco distributors came with a resistor rotor. The resistor burned out and the rotor failed. The owner and another participant drove to all the area to various parts houses looking for a new rotor. None were to be had. This is strange, as this rotor must fit many cars from the period. They finally found one from yet another participant at the Stagecoach Inn. Ironically, Feltz Terrill was at the Meet and at the Saturday swap meet was selling tune-up kits to fit the Delco V-8 distributor. I understand the owner bought a few of them. Back in the day we used to replace these resistor rotors with conventional ones. The cars ran better and there was no increase in ignition noise on the radio. It was an FCC requirement to have suppression devices on vehicle ignition systems to lessen noise on radios and tvs. For those V-8 Packards with Delco systems, I recommend replacing the resistor rotor with a conventional type. The Clipper looked to be an unrestored car with lots of deferred maintenance items. It had a carburetor flooding problem, an over heating problem, and questionable ignition system. It was given the Hard Luck Driving award for its problems. Unfortunate experience for a first time attendee. I hope he comes back next year. (o{}o)

The 1940 sedan parked in front of the 55 Carribbean--is that a 160 sedan with a non-stock metalflake gray paint job? Very nice interior and a terrific running car?
I think I know that car.

If you enlarge the image and look at that "oval" on the upper edge of the cowl panel between the front door and the hood, it looks like a CCCA "Senior" placque. Too fuzzy to be absolutely certain.

The hood side louvers and the bumpers indicate that it's a 160. I can't tell if the metal flake is non stock from that photo. Most metal flake finishes today are not correct, though. My opinion is that if you can see the flake, it's more than likely too large.
The pin striping is also not really correct, but as a Packard customer, that could easily be done for you. I actually prefer the 1940s WITH pin striping, so long as it's done in a nice, fine-line fashion.
