Thanks guys! Howard, I achieved that effect by using my "GoPro" camera which has a very wide angle lens, giving it that fish eye perspective.

hey Mr. GearRat!
my 52 Deluxe was also 'H' yosemite blue... which is a metal falke.. i whant to get it repainted like that eventually but it is prohibitive in california with the air pollution laws. like 5 grand for a good paint job metal flake .. with clear coats. i may have to drive it to Texas or Mexico to get it painted..

Hey guys!
I am messing around with the radio in my car and I have some questions about it. Now, I don't plan on getting it to work with AM radio but, can I get it to work with an input cable/speaker wire by bypassing the AM output so the volume control on the radio still works? If yes, how so? That way things like phones, iPods, etc. can be plugged into it by way of a cable with a headphone jack. I tested the speaker by using some speaker wire connected to an audio cable which was plugged into a tablet. The speaker produces sound but, it isn't very loud. It needs help from what ever amplifier the radio is equipped with. And a side note: When connected to power, only the light within the radio comes on. There is no buzzing or any other sounds that are emitted when connected and in the "on" position. If you can't see the below video, follow this link: Speaker Testing Thanks, -Garrett <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-version="4" style=" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:658px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);"><div style="padding:8px;"> <div style=" background:#F8F8F8; line-height:0; margin-top:40px; padding:50% 0; text-align:center; width:100%;"> <div style=" background:url(data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAACwAAAAsCAMAAAApWqozAAAAGFBMVEUiIiI9PT0eHh4gIB4hIBkcHBwcHBwcHBydr+JQAAAACHRSTlMABA4YHyQsM5jtaMwAAADfSURBVDjL7ZVBEgMhCAQBAf//42xcNbpAqakcM0ftUmFAAIBE81IqBJdS3lS6zs3bIpB9WED3YYXFPmHRfT8sgyrCP1x8uEUxLMzNWElFOYCV6mHWWwMzdPEKHlhLw7NWJqkHc4uIZphavDzA2JPzUDsBZziNae2S6owH8xPmX8G7zzgKEOPUoYHvGz1TBCxMkd3kwNVbU0gKHkx+iZILf77IofhrY1nYFnB/lQPb79drWOyJVa/DAvg9B/rLB4cC+Nqgdz/TvBbBnr6GBReqn/nRmDgaQEej7WhonozjF+Y2I/fZou/qAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC); display:block; height:44px; margin:0 auto -44px; position:relative; top:-22px; width:44px;"></div></div><p style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px; margin-bottom:0; margin-top:8px; overflow:hidden; padding:8px 0 7px; text-align:center; text-overflow:ellipsis; white-space:nowrap;"><a href="https://instagram.com/p/yGB95yKpk9/" style=" color:#c9c8cd; font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none;" target="_top">A video posted by Garrett Cuellar (@garrett_cuellar)</a> on <time style=" font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; line-height:17px;" datetime="2015-01-20T23:29:22+00:00">Jan 20, 2015 at 3:29pm PST</time></p></div></blockquote> <script async defer src="//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js"></script>

Garrett, welcome back. Can't help with your radio questions, but someone here will have some answers for you. Looking forward to Salado and seeing you there.

I was looking into something similar when I was working on my radio. I heard too many words of caution about 6v positive ground being a bad thing for the ipod etc. I guess there is a chance power can run through the input cable and ruin the ipod. If you google you will see a bunch of write ups about it. If you still are not deterred, there was a write up on instructibles that someone did it to a home radio. Should be the same process.
If you do find a way for it to work safely, please let us know! I found that replacing the capacitors in my radio restored its function. If you are not getting the buzz noise, you may need a new vibrator. Also check for broken connections. See my blog for the recent radio stuff I have been doing.

You would still need a functional radio but another option would be to go with the RediRadrediscoveradio.com for your iPod or FM radio etc input and keep the Packard radio entirely stock.

I would say that is the safest bet. I was hoping to find a way to just use the tube amplifier with some kind of input socket you could just splice on, but I have yet to find a safe one...I think Garrett was hoping for the same thing.

You're right on the money 51packard. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be splicing into the original unit. I've been watching some YouTube videos on making your own amplifiers so I think I'll retrofit it with something like that. If I can get it to work with the electrical of the car, then it's a success. If not, then a 9 volt battery will have to suffice. I'll try to post pictures of the progress; pretty excited about this one!
Thanks guys, Garrett
