nothing fancy here. just piddling. mounting some stuff to the firewall.

I remember BigKev talking about how he got his flapper seal from Packard's International and seeing as how I'm more inclined to buy online and couldn't find any way to do that, I remembered I had some left over masticated rubber I used to repair the vacuum advance.

I just laid the metal flap on the rubber and added about 1/2" or so, cut it out in two separate pieces per flap and put it all back together. nothing to it. I test fit it in one of the vents and it looks like it will function well.

Nice job, and the bonus is the satisfaction you got from doing it yourself. I have found the nearby Granger store has all kinds of rubber stock.

test fitting the heater box so I know where everything goes and that it all fits right.

used some felt I had laying around for the flapper arm.

I can't figure out how those rubber pieces go on though. on the inside or the outside. I'm guessing more the inside. maybe that doesn't even go on this car??? idk Steele rubber listed it for the heater box.....what am I missing??

also showing the hand brake lever mounted. I also test fitted the rubber grommet for the pull arm to pass through the firewall. I'm pretty sure I have that in right.

I have very limited pictures of the firewall from before I took it all apart. my camera sucked back then and the images are crap. so I'm gonna be needing lots of help soon on what I'm missing and what holes on the firewall are for what, etc.

Not following which rubber pieces you are asking about -- the grommets over the tubes???. The flaps look OK as does the grommets on the outside of case over the water tubes. The forward facing one is held by the hose and the one on the side kind of hangs there held by the bend in tube. Can't see a good angle so not sure if the correct one is on the correct tube or if the rotation is correct. IIRC the forward facing ones edge next to hose is almost straight vertical when installed-- not at the slight angle yours is. I also remember some posts where others thought Steeles repros were not quite correct in the angles that wrap around the case corner-- particularly the side grommet -- is not right.

Thanks for all the pictures and narrative, I enjoy following along. On the parking brake there is a curious little spring that keeps the handle horizontal - it's sometimes missing and I'll enclose a picture of it and hope you have it.
