...and the Oscar goes to Wes for his series of training videos. Congratulations!

This last video was most informative. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make and post them. You are doing a real service to the folks who visit this site.

I agree, excellent time to pack the rear axle bearings. And while there I recommend you replace the inner oil seals too. They can sometimes difficult to remove, but it is worth the extra work to have new inner and outer seals and well packed bearings. Safety and peace of mind.

Here are the brake tools I use.

The short one with the black plastic handle is for removing and installing the cup retainers that go over the short shoe retaining springs.

A two sided brake spoon for adjusting the star wheel.

The long one is used for removing and installing the primary and secondary springs. One end is for placing under a spring and rolling it off of the anchor pin. The other end is for installing the springs on the pin. A notch grabs the anchor pin and the spring is slid over. Easy as pie.

Looking forward to the next show.

Thanks JW, at least I know I have one follower. Ha Ha! While looking for more information on the Hub and brakes, I found this other guy and he has some good videos, so I am passing them on. Also checkout out his videos on rebuilding a 1914 Packard. So here's the link:youtube.com/watch?v=gFe45WBhUY0
Enjoy!

Well I pulled the hub off the Right hand side hoping to find two Primary shoes on this side but nope. Just like the other side, two Secondary shoes. So I guess I'll just leave it as is.

Shouldn't really make much of a difference, still best to have the weaker spring is on the front (primary) shoe to assist the "servo" action. Obviously not essential as later juniors used the same spring fore and aft though they did have different linings primary and secondary which was also a part of obtaining the servo action.

Well it's been a while, battling depression and a broken leg finally requiring a hip replacement. Finally going to get this done, so goes. I'm the only one that can make me happy and I need to do what I want without all the negative I get at home, enough said!

Had been doing little things but not enough. Working on lubing the rear end, cleaning the brakes. Just got my Brake Master Cylinder back from Apple. While installing kept leaking, went to Autozone got their assortment of copper washer, found two that would work after a little sand paper to make the holes just a little bit bigger. now wait for tomorrow to see if any leaks.

While under there notice the shift linkage looks like it needs to be slid up a little. Attaching a picture for a little feed back.

Big decision is just get off my butt and do it!
Wes

Something does appear a bit off. My turnbuckles are fairly straight between the idler arms and the shift levers. My shift tube is all the way down and touching the shoulder on the steering box. Don't have any photos showing the exact view and angle yours was taken but here are a few I did have.

Sorry, web page shutdown during depression. Just couldn't keep going. Hard to stay focus when feeling so bad but pressing on for now.

Thanks Howard, here are a few photos looking from above.

If front and rear are the same on this year and model, is it possible that there are two secondary shoes on each side of the rear?
