G'day Dan, Great topic and interesting to see what response it'll bring. And a question for you. Are you planning to 'scratch that itch' by becoming a Packard owner soon? If so, don't forget to add it to the Owner Registry together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it.

Oz, would LOVE to own a Packard! I'm thinking '47 coupe...or '55-'56 coupe (I'm intrigued by the torsion-bar suspension and by how they managed to style/engineer them in such a hurry and ALMOST succeeded...)...
Finances will have to improve, though. And a garage would be nice...

I have restored alot of Studebakers and got one Kaiser torunning condition but never a Packard. i have always wanted one. Still thinking hard about the 55 Packard 300 I found even though it is rough and lots to do.

Took me over 40 years to own a Packard and wish I'd been able to do so sooner. Things like finances and a garage are certainly determining factors in owning a Packard. The guy who I bought my '38 from wouldn't sell it to another guy because that guy didn't have a garage! That said I have a garage but it's not spacious enough to let me work on the car so that's why my '41 is in a workshop about 3 miles away. Wish you well and the sooner you become a Packard owner the better! Goodluck.

I'm not quite a Packard owner yet. In fact, to tell you the truth, I haven't ever seen a Packard in person. However, I've been bitten by the bug and my wife and I can't wait until we're able to own one. In my opinion, they are the most stately and graceful cars ever made in America.
I'm in dental school so tuition takes priority at the moment. But even though I'm unable to have a Packard now, I'm learning all that I can through this website (and others) and published books (Packard: the Pride, Packard: A History of the Car and Company). Not owning a Packard, I may not have much to contribute to the site at the moment, but I hope to learn all I can from all you folks.

You might be surprised how little it takes to own one - depending on how much "sweat equity" you're able to put into it.
Stayed tuned - a reference for such books is coming soon.

KevinPack,
I started with the books. Enjoyed them for years. Never knew about PInfo (Of course, that interest goes back many years before this website. By the way PInfo is cheaper than books.) GOOD NEWS! After what my wife and I dropped at our family dentist's office this month, I PREDICT THAT YOU WILL BE IN PACKARD LAND IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE OF YOUR LIFE. DanL
