I'm sorry. I just had to laugh. I took it for granted that everyone was familiar with oil bath air cleaners. That's like saying " I found a lot of gas in the tank at the rear of the car, How do I fix this"?

I don't know what year car packard34 is speaking of, but I'd have to guess that it's a 34. A factory oil bath air filter for these are indeed rare; they were not standard equipment and a quite uncommon item. The standard filter (for Eights) was the straight-barrel type with an oiled mesh at the forward end.

Dave, In this instance it'd be his '55 Caribbean since it's posted in the V8 Forum. But not to worry, he does go by the monicker of packard34 of which he has one and is currently getting the engine rebuilt. And Mat, The Owner's Registry? I think I was quite gentle with you on Sunday. It's about time the Caribbean made it into the Registry to help keep the '34 company there!
