Fantastic Vic! how wide are the WW on your car ? I was looking at the Coker L78- 15 3 inch WW for mine. They are $170.00 each but I feel they will set my car off nicely

L 78's are a wide "aspect " tire, inappropriate for your car. The car came with 7.60 or 800x 15's narrower and taller tires

Thank you Fred. So Say 800-15 2 1/2 white wall? Or is 3 inch more appropriate?

Vic,

for adding your '51 300 Touring Sedan to the Registry. Regarding losing all your original input, apparently the system here "updates" about every 15/20 minutes and unless you've updated the entry as you go along by previewing it, it gets lost! A trap for young(and old - I've been caught many, many times) players.

Brian,
Sorry I've gone in your thread.

What a great looking car. Am amazed it cleaned up so well. The gray color sure brings back memories. Dad bought a new 51 300 in the same color. Here is a photo of that car with mom, dad and younger brother on a trip to White Sands, NM. When coming across the photo I remember asking mom why I wasn't in the picture. She said we met up with her sister and family on that trip and I was undoubtedly running around with cousins getting into trouble.

Not long after the photo was taken dad came across a low use 51 400 and bought it so we were a two Packard family for several years. He traded the 300 in on something else but the 400 was mine to drive thru high school.

Great pic. I found out my transmission is slipping after alls said and done. Kanter Parts has a rebuild kit for the Ultramatic for $415. Pretty sure the friction plates are just worn out. Wish I knew of a local shop in the San Diego area that would rebuild it.
