Anyone have a clue as to how many 1939 Formal Sedans were produced?
30, based on a statistical analysis by Charles Blackman which is derived from highest surviving vehicle numbers.

if you take the silencer apart be care full, that little clip ,,don't try to pry it off like E clip, walk it up shaft, then give it a little squeeze, and slide it down shaft, I lost one already,,they are tiny,,, edit,,walk it down shaft edit, it's possible the tip on the bottom of silencer broke, I have some that look broke, cause that works off roller arm

Update. I know it has been a while but good things take time. Figured out the valve noise. Turns out someone had previously installed the forward most rocker shaft and silencer assembly backwards. After taking both heads off and the intake / exhaust manifold off I found the problem. Then I realized that I would have to remove the valves, springs, retainers and guides to get the unit turned around so I decided to remove all valves and guides to service all of the silencers. Anyways after 40 hours of work, 2 new valves, all new stem keeper keys 1/32 higher as in the shop manual. It runs perfect and silent. Success..... These are great engines! The root cause of the noise was that the front rocker assembly was not getting oil supply as in the pics.
