is it a true export from date of manufacture also? or was it just shipped there later in life? that would be interesting to see that they were exporting even 10 from the end of the line.

"was it just shipped there later in life?"
Suspect that would be the answer, Fred's original post says "a 1956 Patrician that I saw for sale thanks to a great topic here that tries to collect the ads of Packards for sale on Craigslist". Don't believe Craigslist operates in France. It's heartening to see that the effort put in, especially by 58L8134, BDC and others, to link listings to that thread pays off! This post provides a link to Fred's Patrician in the Registry.

The build slip from the Studebaker National Museum would answer some of the questions.

Indeed, this is a very late import (end of 2016). I know of one 1956 Caribbean export (which belonged to Edith Piaf, at display in a museum here) and one 1956 Patrician (with a kph speedometer) that was once for sale here in a rather rough condition, many many years ago. And there is/was another 1956 Patrician that appeared in a magazine 21 years ago. Not idea how many Packard were exported here, but a few were.
I will contact the Studebaker National Museum. Thanks for the link! Fred

Hi PP56FR
Welcome to the Forum, so glad you found your '56 Patrician, gorgeous in solid copper, through our Various CL Pickings efforts. There are hundreds of Packards here in the U.S. that go wanting for an appreciative owner-conservator, some of which are reasonably priced for the model and condition. If you can introduce your fellow countrymen to the benefits of Packard ownership, they too should be able to follow your example, avail themselves of these fine cars. Please keep us apprised of your experiences with your Patrician. Steve

Thank you for the welcoming.
Craigslist operates indeed in France, but is not well-known. Our nationwide equivalent is "leboncoin" (which translates to "the good place") with millions of ads.
