Do not know where the spark plug wire from the carb goes on my 1923 six. Runs without it hooked up, so wonder about the need for it. Thanks. Glen

G'day Glen,
to PackardInfo. Can't answer your question but I'm sure someone can. In the meantime you might have a look over Bernie J's Blog on the AACA Site. And, I invite you to include your '23 Packard in the Packard Owner's Registry here on PackardInfo. There's only one '23 listed at present, co-incidently Bernie's, and with yours on board we could double that number!

Thank you so much for that info. Now I can rest easy. Always wondered why it still ran well. Do you know of anyway to improve the duel point situation? Seems I spend an awful lot of time adjusting them while we are out and about. I see what looks like resistors on the side of the distributor but one is missing. This might explain the constant adjustment. Don't you love old cars. Every time you venture out, it is a challenge! With regards from the Big Sky Country, Glen

Glen,
The red Packard in the photo is a 1921/22 Single Six model 116. I believe if you measure the wheelbase it will be 116". Engine/chassis numbers would confirm the model. My car is a 1922/3 Single Six model 126 and there are differences that I am not familiar with. My distributor has single points if yours has dual points then it seems that is one of the differences. I would modify the distributor to take single modern points. I have done this with my 1929 Packard and its not particularly difficult. You need to make a new base for the points then find a set of readily available modern points and mount them on the plate so that they operate with the cam. Once mounted you need to rotate the plate to the location to give the correct ignition timing using a static timing light then drill it and screw it in place. A bit of fiddling around but worth the effort. BTW there is a parts list for you car on this web site under "Packard Literature and Manuals"

David,
just bought a 1926 243 with fuelizer, which has the same new coil setup you use. I would like to get an original fuelizer coil for experiments. Do you sell your old coil, or do you know anyone who has one for sale, even if it's not working? Best regards from sunny Germany. Michael
