54 Caribbean loaded and on its way to find its body...

A very nice looking chassis but is the car going to be for show and is that the original engine and air cleaner? The 54 Caribbean would have had the 359 engine with the aluminum head. That looks like it might be a 53 5 main 327 engine and cleaner.

The head looks like a cast iron head but that in itself could be changed from a failed alum. head from way back and maybe not that big of deal. More noticeable is that it looks like it has the cleaner which was used on the 53 and 54 327 with 4 barrel. I believe all the 359 engines had this short stubby type cleaner and if the car is a 54 going for show I think a point or two might be deducted.

Yes, Unfortunately, for the customer, the engine has been replaced with a 327. He had someone else rebuild it before he brought it to us and already sunk in over 6k on the rebuild.

That's too bad. If he can find the proper cleaner that would go a long way toward at least looking right. The same cleaner was also used on some GM products. I found one for my 54 Pacific on a junkyard Buick.

Looks a lot like the air cleaner on my 4 bbl 1956 Pontiac.

It makes a nice presentation but despite not being the correct engine, you'd think the owner would want it detailed more correctly, especially for a potentially high value model like a Caribbean.

The fuel line looks really close to the manifold. Unusual routing.

Ha, ha, no worries. Unfortunately it is a resto-mod so only fit, form, and function on this one, correctness went out the window. Recommendations given but he has got his own vision. Ill probably wind up snagging the wire rims, he is going to run aftermarket.

1956 Exectutive 153k Makes it yearly trek from the Great White North to Florida for the winters.

The car would not drive more than 100 ft. I wonder why..

The Ultramatic has seen better days. I am calling this one Bacon Burnt.

Parts due Tuesday and she will be back to the customer by the end of the week.
