Howdy everybody! I'm back, and with another Packard. The 55' I had went to a new home, and I brought a 53' home. It is rough, but very solid underneath. The engine has had a valve job done, and the carb rebuilt, but isn't running yet, as I need to replace the starting components in the distributor, and place the carb back on, and hook up the fuel lines, linkage, etc. It is eventually going to be a semi-restored daily driver. The worst part of the car as it sits is the interior, as its in shreds, but that's nothing a blanket won't fix for now haha. It seems like a lot for 17 year old me, but I think I can handle it! I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with you all.

Cordially,
Deven

If you get a chance, I'd appreciate getting the theft-proof and Briggs numbers, and the motor# if possible.

Where are they located? I'd be happy to get them.

Theft-proof is the very large number above the heater box that's embossed into the cowl. 6 digits with a bracket at each end.

Briggs # is on a small tag on the cowl just inboard of the heater box.

Motor# is on the block, on a raised pad, above the starter motor and below the temperature gauge sensor.

back Deven and for including your '53 Cavalier Touring Sedan in the Registry.

Speaking of which, I have marked your '55 Clipper entry there as 'SOLD'!

Welcome Deven!
What is that black box on the firewall? Above where the starter and throttle linkage are, I see some mystery box. Good luck, and have fun getting your hands dirty.

Hi Deven

Welcome back, glad you were able to find another Packard for your project. A solid body with minor structural rust damage is a better place to start. You'll learn a lot wrenching on the Cavalier and get satisfaction from doing it yourself.

Ask any and all question that arise, there are no dumb questions, we're standing by to help and encourage. Do a search first because many of the issues you'll encounter have been met before by others, much good solid advice is at your fingertips.

Good luck with your Cavalier and keep us posted on your progress.

Steve

.....epigram time.....
Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.
