Stepped out 4 good paces next to the '50 and this ended up about 20" longer than the '50's wheelbase. So confirms as 141" wheelbase and either a Limo or LWB Sedan.
But, really need to know whether my old '41 120 wheels/tyres or the '50 Eight wheels/tyres will fit the '48 Limo. Measured 3 wheel centres, '41 120(black), spare(red) and '48 Eight(green). All appear to be the same/similar in that all measuring, across a lug nut hole to the opposite alignment hole, on all three were 5". When I say alignment hole these are the five small holes one of which is used by means of a "locating pin" on each brake drum so the lug nuts can be inserted and wheel centered. Another measurement was the diameter of the centre hole, being approx 3 & 7/16" - 3 & 3/8"on each of the three wheels. While a third was the spacing between bolt holes of about 2 & 13/16". Some photos are attached to illustrate. Would some '48, '49, '50 Limo owner(I believe the chassis is a 2222) be kind enough to measure a wheel of theirs and report their findings? Please?

I wonder if Mal is going to turn into Lt. Columbo and see if he can locate the rest of the car. That would make such great story,if between the flackmaster and others, the major parts could all be rounded up...
There is an old retired Sea Captain from the United Kingdom, named John Charlton, who comes over to the wilds of Arizona each year, hangs out at Arizona Model A, and will build a Model A Ford out of parts, over a trip or two. His latest effort is a red and black Pick Up named 'Beef'. His work reminds me of someone working on a oversize tinker toy! Mal, how about it. Ernie in Arizona

David,
for the "good to go with wheels", greatly appreciated. As to piecing the Limo back together, I think not! Mainly because the previous owner bought it at Hershey in 1988 sans body! At the same time be bought a '32(?) 7 seater Packard which he restored and later sold to a guy here in Oz at Tuross Heads. He also bought a '37 Cad La Salle which received similar treatment to the Packard, although it has a body, then fell by the wayside. So if any Aussies know of anyone looking for a '37 Cad La Salle parts car this one is cheap! And when I say cheap, I mean cheap. The insulting offer I made for the Packard, I'm now sure, could have been much more insulting and probably would have been thankfully accepted! Attach file: (49.96 KB)

It might pay to branch out Mal and buy the LaSalle.

What, "buy the LaSalle"
I reached out to a guy in the Cad-LaSalle Club here and he'd seen the ad and wasn't that impressed, even at an insulting offer level. So, no, not at this stage. But for trying to expand my blinkered Packard outlook.

(PT) David, My sincerist apologies for doubting your Packard Guru-ish-ness(If that wasn't a word before, it is now!) when I said "As to piecing the Limo back together, I think not! Mainly because the previous owner bought it at Hershey in 1988 sans body!". Since then I have spoken with PT and been put back on the straight and narrow. Turns out the Limo came from Cooma NSW being a Martin & King bodied funeral car. I was unsure when I spoke with the present owner and he was talking about all the wood in the body being rotten. Now I know. And yes, PT has various parts off the car but that still doesn't convince me to restore it! PT did tell me he'd supplied an R11 for it, but I didn't see that in the shed, there was only a manual 3 speed trans behind the engine. When I return to pick up the chassis I'll be searching the shed. I know there are some parts up in the rafters but I think an R11 will be much lower to the ground.

Thanks Peter,
It too supposedly came from Hershey. The steering wheel, column and box for it are laying on the Packard chassis.
