You really want high temp paint for your engine. The other paint will loose its bond and flake off. I would also use a high temp primer (if you are taking down to the bare surface).

Krylon is not a high temp paint and must be freshened up from time to time-my experience it will last several years. The judging guideline is available from Packard International

I collected dozens of slides of original Packard green on engine parts over the years. They do vary, but the paint is old and weathered. I have seen NOS Packard twelve parts with a dark olive color as well. The slides I have of inside generator and starter covers are always darker probably because of ozone exposure.
One thing about the Hirsch product is that it's very responsive to the color primer used so if you want a darker shade use a darker primer. I never doubted Bill's product, especially because Turnquist thought it was great. Of course I don't know where things will go from here on.

At least on the Hirsch gray, it seemed to vary considerably in darkness between batches. One engine I did was light gray while another using a different can of paint was noticeably darker. Which was correct? I have no idea but I expect that the other colors may have similar variances.
