Packard Clipper in Colombia, South America

This is a picture of my great grandfather's Packard Clipper, which was taken in Colombia, near a town called La Vega. The young man is my grandfather, and on the hood on the left is his future wife, my grandmother, and to her right is my grandfather's sister. I believe it is a "super" model. Does anyone know what year it might be?

Yes- looking at other vehicles it does in fact say super clipper. What was the difference between a standard clipper and a super clipper?

Not sure what year you got but you can checkout the sales Brochure and checkout the differences of the different models.

"What was the difference between a standard clipper and a super clipper?"

The 1946-'47 21st Series Clipper line comprised four subseries as follows:
The 'Junior' series built on the 120" wheelbase.
Clipper Six, 2100, 245 ci six.
Clipper Standard, 2101 and Deluxe, 2111, 282 ci eights.

The 'Senior' series built on the 127" wheelbase.
Super Clipper, 2103, 356 ci eight
Custom Super Clipper, 2106, 356 ci eight.

Sedan body shells were shared across all four series, the 'Senior' series have substantially longer front fenders and hood to accommodate the larger straight eight.

Hope this imparts perspective to what the Super Clipper was. In the marketplace, it was the main Packard competition versus the Cadillac Series 62.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

Thanks- I don't know what happened to the car- my great grandfather died in November 1948. The car was either a 1946 or 1947- he didn't get to enjoy it for very long. His widow almost certainly sold it after his death. Thanks for the information- it helped me understand a small part of his story.
