I sure would hate to see that happen, it would significantly lower the Caribbean's value to most collectors and potential buyers. Please don't do it.
I assume you're talking about automatic transmissions? The only interchange I know of that's been explored replaces the Ultramatic with a Chrysler 727, there is a kit available for this. But again, please think twice before you alter a Caribbean.

Sorry, can't help with your question but I invite you to include the '55 Caribbean in the Owner Registry here together with a pic, any known history and how it was acquired.

You can buy an excellent rebuilt Ultramatic that will last as long as you own the car. It's not cheap but it's probably cheaper than the price of a Torqueflite plus the adapter kit.
And it won't depreciate the value of the car.

The following thread discusses some options:
packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... orum=3&post_id=15923#forumpost15923 The mopar conversion requires somekind of large spacer adapter between flexplate and torque converter. Best to go with the 700r4 Gm conversion and get the Overdrive feature of it. HOW do u plan to drive the car depends alot on what to do in terms of conversion or not to convert. KEEP US POSTED on what u decide. Many of us here are most willing to discuss trans conversions. Tell us a little about your 54 Chev.
