Transmission is appropriate to the 288/327 engine it's coupled to. See this very recent thread where Howard commented on Transmission identification. The big solid right angle trans mounting brackets ![]()

According to the parts book, the case number is for:
17TH-18TH 19TH SERIES . . . which makes it 1939, 1940 and 1941.

EVERYTHING can be mixed and matched with the '51. That's one of the advantages and pleasures of that era.
