Jorge,
Transmission is appropriate to the 288/327 engine it's coupled to. See this very recent thread where Howard commented on Transmission identification. The big solid right angle trans mounting brackets wouldn't have contributed to isolating power train vibrations from the chassis!

According to the parts book, the case number is for:
17TH-18TH 19TH SERIES . . . which makes it 1939, 1940 and 1941.

EVERYTHING can be mixed and matched with the '51. That's one of the advantages and pleasures of that era.
