Hi Roger,
The machine shop that rebuilt my motor told me it should have a high zinc- content oil used in it. NAPA and all 'those guys' carry a 'hot rod & classic car' oil that has a zinc additive. I've been using that since initial start-up and have great oil pressure, no smoke or oil consumption. Which viscosity to use is another matter, and there seems to be drastic disparity on opinions regarding which is best, but sure you'll get lots of input from the pros on here. Chris.

Lucas makes a high zinc oil in 10W-30 and 10W-40 weights. Classic Car Club of America sells a classic car motor oil with high zinc content in 15W-40 weight. I have used the CCCA oil but not the Lucas. I bought a supply of Lucas 10W-40 through Amazon and plan on using it in my 55 Dodge 270 Hemi engine for its next oil change.
