Although there are some who would disagree, I think you should either have your existing pump rebuilt (about a week turnaround from Gould Rebuilders or others), or buy a rebuilt one exchange from someone like Kanter Bros, Max Merritt, etc.
Electric fuel pumps have their uses, but I don't favor using them as a full-time fuel pump.

Replying to my own note. I decided to go all original in the event I want to show the car. I have a Carter Fuel pump on the way to me and I read the other post on fuel pumps that helped me understand what the vacuum assist does. This is a great forum - thanks

There is a how-to article on the website here on how to rebuild that exact fuel pump yourself. All you need to buy is the rebuild kit which costs about $50.
