Sites like these can possibly also help you to identify what you have so maybe write and say what you think it is and ask where to find identifiers to confirm. They want to sell their parts so have the incentive to help!

You guys are absolutely, absolutely, ABSOLUTELY awesome. What a great forum.
I was out this afternoon at a Kids With Cancer rally...we had been asked to provide a car rally consisting of Japanese cars for a sick kid who was in treatment here...I was blown away by the response we got with 30+ cars showing up... ...but I'm equally blown away by you guys. I was counting my blessings this afternoon there...and now I'm doing it here. I'm so lucky to have found this forum!

I'll do my best to fill in the blanks, but it'll be a slow process. I'll try to tear the car down more so I have better access for photos and such some time this week.

I remember seeing a pre-war Packard fitted with a Chevrolet or GMC inline 6-cylinder engine. It was a direct bolt in at the transmission side. No adaptor used. Of course it was a later model engine than the one discussed here.

I went out gathering equipment for various projects today...did NOT have any luck with a transmission fluid. Seems NAPA up here does not carry the Sta Lube 140. None of the automotive shops (Canadian Tire/Partssource/WarehouseServices/Lordco etc) had anything comparable either.
On a hunch, I tried Gregg Distributors. Their oil specialist recommended an Extreme Pressure ISO 150 rated gearbox/transfer case oil used in heavy, heavy industry. It does not have a Limited Slip/LS additive package in it. I'm trying to find someone who uses it locally to sell me a quart or two as it only comes in 5 gallon pails. Other than that...I'm not sure of another locally available alternative. Haven't given up yet...there are several obscure automotive outlets I'm going to hunt down over the next week. Worst case scenario, I'll see if I can find someone in the US to ship me some Sta Lube.

Where are you located? Your profile shows your Time Zone as (GMT) Greenwich Mean Time, London, Dublin, Lisbon, Casablanca, Monrovia which makes no sense if you looked at Napa.
In any event, I buy it on Amazon with free shipping which is where I get most hardware, tools and equipment and anything else not specifically Packard-related. No need to join Prime either to get the free shipping.
