Howard, happy to report that was the tank terminal, and with the runtz attached to the other terminal, it works. I do find it interesting it works backward than what I was expecting. When the tank wire is missing (open circuit), it reads Full. When given straight ground, it reads empty.
So if the tank wire goes bad or the tank ground is bad, it always reports you have a full tank! I tried to install the replacement toe board. It was a no-go. Compared to the rusty one removed from the car, you can see where the bottom was trimmed, and the middle hump flatten, and another hump was created more to the right to work around a bulbous part of the bell housing on the Jag motor. The metal on the one that came out is pretty thin and Swiss-cheesed, so I'll have to modify the replacement to fit. Hindsight is 20/20, so I know what it needs to look like. I think when they were trying to get the Jag motor to fit, they just went at it until it did. So I use a little more planning with my changes and perhaps cut and weld in some patches vs. just hammering out the shape, which distorted the bottom edge severely. Also, I think the metal got pretty thin from being stretched so much, and that contributed to the rust-through. Here is also a shot that shows the Packard tranny matted to the Jag bellhousing and clutch. I'm pretty sure then the floor shifter sits a little further forward than the original. One more thing a accomplished today was reinstalling the door molding with the stainless screws and cup washers I was able to source. While not chrome as original, it's close enough. The moldings will eventually go out for wood graining as well. So they were just painted dash structure to clean them up for now. I’m assuming this is 12v considering the motor…. Look at what I did with a new sender and fuel gauge recently…. Might help. My homemade runtz failed and the gauge never would read right and bounced all over. The new stuff is excellent now.

Yes, 12v. The gauge appears to be working as described in the services manual. I still need to check the tank sender for operation.

It kind of sounds like the resistance positions of the 37 sender may be opposite that of the sender used with Clipper S-W gauges -- ie 0 at the empty end rather than full. When you get around to checking the sender and if it is in good enough shape could you measure and hopefully we can get some approximate numbers for future reference.

If the runtz fails… it’ll probably fry the gauge. Pretty sure mine did. If I had anything worth saving from my original sender I’d lob it over to you…. But yeah I made a mess of it. Actually…. I do have new floats on the end that are plastics and not cork I believe…. If you need them let me know.

Luckily I bought a real deal runtz from Speedway, not the off-shore knockoff version. So it has lots of over current/reverse current, etc., protection built into it. So I don't expect an issue with it.
I let you know if the sender becomes an issue. The more significant issue I have is the 1/2-3/4 of a tank of old fuel.

Will do Howard if I need to pull the sender. If it appears to be working, I probably let sleeping dogs lie.

Going back to the toeboards.
I just noticed a difference in the toeboards. The one in the (rusty one) has this hole cut. which I assumed was done for clearance, and the new one from Ulrich does not have that. But looking at a picture sent by Dezi from his 37 120 Sedan, his toe board shows the hole as well. I wonder why the Ulrich one is missing it? what was it for?

All I can tell you is that mine in my '37 120C does not have it either. I have included a shot from last year before I disassembled the floor.
I suspect it has been cut in for access, to what I have no idea. There is nothing in that area of my bell housing. Bob J.
