Yes indeed! Once this is done, I also need to do the same thing with the trunk skin. But there the wood framework was never completely finished. So it still needs a lot of shaping to get it to lay flat. The frame there is pretty high on one side and there is a note written on it that says "High Spot". So a little shaving is needed. Once I get that sorted, then I can repeat the process of attaching the skin.

I got the fenders back from Vince and his crew. They did a great job of fixing the structural cracks in the fenders.
They also sprayed some magic sauce on the patched areas to "fix" the patina so it matches. Attach file: OutsideFenderRepair.jpg (192.00 KB) InsideFenderRepair.jpeg (116.72 KB) Fenders.jpg (123.25 KB)

Back to the rumble seat. I wasn't happy with the fitment on lid to the body. It was bowed on the sides with the center of the skin being about 1/4" higher that the corners. This is due to the frame having to much arch to it. So once attached to frame this deformed the skin.
Rather then try to shave down the frame in that area and take too much meat out of the wood, I am going to try to bend it a bit first. So I disassembled the entire thing again. Then I removed the paint on the concave side of the wood and let it sit with a soaking wet rag against it length for a few hours then I clamped it against these large panel clamps as they are pretty much like i-beams. I'll leave it in the clamps for a couple of days and keep the concave side wet as well to help expand the fibers on that side.

Got the trunk wood frame reshaped to fit. A 36 grit flap wheel on a grinder makes shaping wood effortless.
I got the skin as centered and leveled in the opening as possible. Attach file: Screenshot_20230702_192539_Gallery.jpg (193.41 KB) 20230702_191720.jpg (310.46 KB) Screenshot_20230702_192517_Gallery.jpg (150.57 KB)
