the rear courtesy lights extend up the drivers side, run back along the top of the rear window into the passenger side.

Thanks for the pictures guys. They did help. I lost most of the pictures that I took when I tore all that stuff down and I don't remember all the facts. One thing I do recall is that my original tail harness crossed under the driver's feet and ran right down the left side of the "hump". So Packard had some variations as one of you had a harness that went along the rocker.

I believe I fixed that leak in the power steering reservoir. It was the center bolt as mentioned here. I now have a second leak but it's underneath. I had two drips (indicated by the arrows) but I tightened the bolt next to the one on the left a few days ago and it appears to have helped. However, I still have a slow drip coming from the arrow on the right.
I am not sure where it's coming from as it appears to be under that "sliding plate on the Bendix pump. I rebuilt all that some time ago.

If you have a very slight leak of red fluid at the steering joint by the grease fitting, it could be oil separating from the grease if you use one of the red greases. I'd wipe it off and keep an eye on it.

The fluid is not red and it did not start dripping until I filled the reservoir a month ago.

I thought I had the power steering leak fixed.

I finally got a socket on the top bolt of the Bendix. It turned about 3/4 of a turn. After about 4 days there was no leak.

Then today I refilled the reservoir and the first leak started again. It's not coming from the reservoir. It does appear to be coming from the shaft. I am pointing to it in the image. Every time I put a rag under the shaft there is oil there.

Could be the shaft is damaged or maybe the seal was when installed. Might be worth trying some snake oil stop leak before tearing it apart again.

I put some of that snake oil in the reservoir. Will give it a couple of days and see how if it helps.

Talk to me about engine coolant. I have seen post here over the years that says “Use this” and “Do not use that”. I don’t recall what they said. The radiator was re-cored a couple of years ago but has been sitting empty ever since.

I did get the car off the 4x4 crib stands this week and back onto the rollers.

Pre-mixed green antifreeze. If you buy straight anti-freeze I believe you are supposed to use distilled water to mix with. Tap water will have minerals in it that can corrode and cause problems.

I just used 50/50 mixed from NAPA. Nothing special and seems to work great.

Agreed. I used the standard green 50/50.

There have been some posts here cautioning not to use distilled water as it can leach some metals in the cooling system. I have use de-mineralized water which is available in most super markets. We used to call it "ironing water" as it was used in steam irons. It did not leave mineral deposits which would clog the iron's steam ports. Of course, no one irons clothes anymore.
