Back from Florida to find a package waiting for me.
![]() This is to replace the Jaguar scripted oil cap with this plain one. This is part of my engine camouflage plan.

Good idea! For the era, it should be block letters.

We've been playing catch-up on our holiday decorating and what not since we were out of town the week after Thanksgiving.
But I was able to spin the car back around in the garage without opening the door, which helps to keep the heat in. ![]() Hopefully I can start working on the kingpins and upper support pin replacements this coming week.

Engine is as Packardfied as its going to get.
![]() Maybe I can get the oil cap engraved with something Packard. Or find a larger Packard script I can attached the side of the air clearer "torpedo" that runs the length of the motor.

Staring pulling the left side apart to replace the kingpin.
![]() ![]() I was able to drive out the old bushings, clean everything up and drive in the new ones. Also got them reamed to the correct size. ![]() Then tried to reassemble and found a problem. The new kingpins are too long, and the original has the lock groove offset. After some conversations with Flackmaster the issue was lower outer pins that were put in a kingpin box as some point in the past. The correct pins on the way. ![]() One other question, with the new bearing the old shim is too thick. So Flackmaster is going to send me some thinner ones. But just to be sure, is there a specified about of play/clearance that is supposed to be there so I know what size shim I need?

Packard wouldn't have done that, and in my opinion, any attempt at doing so would make it look cheesy.

Does anyone know what size cap plugs the 115C uses on the kingpins on the spindles? The parts book calls out 1-5/16" for the 120-18th Series. But nothing specifically for the 115C.
1-5/16 is too large and not close to seating. When I measure the seat for the plugs on the spindles, they are approx 1-17/64. I ground down one of the 1-5/16 ones down until it was just a bit oversized, and was able to firmly seat it, but I'd rather just buy the correct ones rather they repeat for all the others.
