Quick question, while I have the intake and exhaust manifolds off the engine, thought I might re paint the intake manifold. I painted it around thirty years ago and still is holding up for the most part. Thinking a new coat will look better, looks like I painted it a gloss or semi gloss black, what is the correct black to repaint it? And is a high heat necessary for the intake. In past years tried to paint the exhaust manifold with a couple, at the time, ultra super exhaust manifold paints, all of which lasted around two weeks, and yes that was even with sandblasting the manifold first. Will probably leave it bare metal unless someone has some suggestions? Thank you.

I was under the impression that the manifolds were left raw from the factory and if that also applies to 1940 senior models, there is a great high-temperature natural cast iron paint. Hirsch and others carry it.

I used this on the Jackard exhaust manifolds that regularly get up to and over 500f.

It says flat back, but it looks more grey to me, almost like natural cast when sprayed.

Did you use any kind of primer? I don't have access to a large sandblaster this time around, so any special prep you might have done?

Thank you Kev. Just got a can today of the Krylon, states the manifold needs to be baked three times and slowly cooled three times if off the car? If you baked your manifolds looks like I will need to get access to a restaurant pizza oven that will be large enough for several hours? Any suggestions? Thanks
