54 and 55 carb

My 55 Custom Clipper had a 4 barrel Carter Carb like what came on the 320 motors. I replaced it with the correct 4 barrel Rochester. Now, I also own a 54 Cavalier 327 with a 4 barrel Carter. Are they the same so I could have a spare? Guessing the mount and linkage may be different. Thanks

Your '54 Cavalier, from factory, should have come with the Carter WCFB, same as my '53 Cavalier.

FYI a core carb plus a rebuild kit for it can be had for like $100.

Yes, that's what it has. Just looking for a spare.

I rebuilt my carb last summer, which I had been putting off because I had never done one, but once it was done I wished I would have done it sooner! Big improvement!

Nope. Unless old age has taken over, as I recall a Clipper "correct carb" would have been a Carter. Senior Packards came with Rochesters, not Carters. Another of the many differences between Packard and Clipper...which seem to have been forgotten.

Clipper Custom and Constellation should have a Rochester.

Clipper Deluxe, Super and Panama should have a Carter.

This is according to the model information here on the site.

Clipper Customs for 1956 anyway, use Carter and because of that, the Packard Executive did too. As an aside, the Clipper and Executive used Autolite electrical components while most senior Packards used Delco although I’ve heard if instances on supposed all-original juniors with Delco so possibly exceptions.

Yes that's because in 1956 the Custom used the Clipper motor with a better carb, but in 1955 it simply used the Senior motor.

53 Cavalier and PGH Ultramatic are correct...the '55 Clipper Custom series came equipped with the Packard 352, Rochester carb and Delco electronics. The Deluxe, Super and Panama lines used the Clipper 320 with a Carter carb and Auto-Lite electronics.
