Riki, me too 😂

Ross,
Thanks for the reminder on the convertible glass, though on double checking the parts book it gives the same weatherstrip for all. I'm not sure how this works out, but one can always test-fit the weatherstrip before install, and trim/re-adhere if necessary.

Photo attached shows the "problem" I had with the Steele windshield weatherstripping. Called Steele and they told me to try another method, nothing wrong with their weatherstrip. I'm going to use a different glass guy to see what he says.

Sorry to see that. Steele reverse-engineered the profile and length instead of using the factory profile. As they do for all their stuff and that's why it often doesn't fit quite right.

By the way, I have a 2 month lead time on getting a shipment in, but I might be able to get one to you early if you would like.

Just for fun, the original retail price of a gasket was $9.50. About $110 today.

I am pleased to announce that I just put a deposit down with my vendor to get a sample weatherstrip made, which should be ready in just a couple of weeks.

I am also buying:

- Generic door weatherstripping which is made to the factory drawing, covering parts 425828-29, 425830-31, 432160-61, etc. Used on many cars from the 40's and up.
Steele price: $8.69/ft.
My price: $3.69/ft

- Power Window Conduit 469349, the piece that carries the wires between the door and the body, and is broken on almost everyone's cars. They are actually not that difficult to install and do not require cutting or splicing any wires. Not only are these an important aesthetic piece on a well-kept car, but they also protect the now-fragile 70-year-old PVC wiring. As far as I know, these have never been reproduced.
Price: $29 per pair or $49 for a set of 4. Each piece is 1 ft. long. Thorough installation instructions included.

The current power window conduits that Steele sells and which YnZs uses on their Packard harnesses are actually the Buick design without the ribbing. As they made a harness several years ago with the Buick type for my Clipper, they've offered to replace them for me once the new ones are done so I definitely need four. They may also want to be a customer so I presume you'll be reaching out to them!

Put me down for a set of two power window conduits. Mine are cracked, as are everyone else's.
