Well i ran to my local paint supply shop as needed some supplies. I have the color code for the Aston Martin Almond Green. They were able to reference it, but that paint code is only showing base/clear match, no single stage. The cost for that… $1000 a gallon. (Thats base, clear, hardners and reducers).

The sound my wife made when he quoted that was something I’ve never heard before.

So going to try to find something to color match in single stage.

I want to buy a quart to start with and spray the firewall to have that done before the engine returns.

Anyone had any luck Auto Color Library? I wonder if they offer spray out cards or anything like that you can buy. Id prefer to get a sample of their match before I buy to verify the color.

Running boards are back on, leveled and aligned so the leading edges are same plane, which is essential to get the front fenders aligned.

Since the right running board is missing all it's rubber and wont get recovered until final paint is done, so I needed to shim the front of that board with a strip of a 1/16" thick rubber to make the length of each board match.

Then I was able to adjust the board positions until there were each the exact same distance from a common point on the frame in the engine bay.

The alignment of the fenders, hood, and radiator shell are a pain in the butt on the pre-war cars. So many things have to line up perfectly in order for it to work.

Things are looking really nice!

Agreed. The height and placement of radiator core support really makes a huge difference as well. Get that off even a little bit the hood gaps will be all over the place.

That's why it makes so much sense to remove the front clip as one unit if you can. Much less time involved in removing and replacing. Of course, that's not always an option.

In the end, this is why my body shop wanted to use my original fenders instead of the replacements I had found. They know everything lined up well. That said, they’ll still have to get it all put back together and lined up.

Just a follow-up, Auto Color Library (aka TCP Global) doesn't not sell or provide sample spray out cards, and the smallest quantity they sell is 1 quart. So add the activator, and you are looking at $140 plus shipping and hoping their match is actually correct. BTW, no return on matched paint.

Yeah, not going to happen. I remember when I was doing the Clipper I ordered some spray cans of Bikini Blue from them, and it looked way closer to Merdian Blue.

I'll work with my local jobber to find a good match.

I think that's a good call. Local guys care more, and it's nice to get a pint of custom paint first to make sure you like it.

I know some NAPA locations do paint. I was having an old Steelcase desk and file cabinet redone and picked out a couple of colors from their sample chart. The paint matched the cards perfectly and the desk came out great. NAPA does advertise that the also do color matching.

I used the FA/6632 and 43U/299 C/Y34
