I found an old discussion about the '34 exhaust brackets and hangers on the AACA forum.
forums.aaca.org/topic/129500-packard-exhaust-brackets/#comment-594324 Does anyone have contact info for There are some photos that were very helpful, and links to photo albums that no longer exist. I would still like to see a photo of the tailpipe mounting at the rear, near the gas tank. I feel that it should be more flexible and lower, for better clearance from the gas tank, and spring schackle.

My 1934 Eight appears very similar to your Super 8 with regard to the muffler hangar. Yes, the tailpipe exits very close to the gas tank and rear right spring shackle. My tailpipe hanger which may very well be original to the car (no way of knowing what might have transpired over 90+ years, but I'm the 2nd owner since 1963) is different in that it terminates by wrapping around the tailpipe. I'll try to add a photo tomorrow.

My '33 1003 had a tailpipe hanger that wrapped around the pipe and was bolted to the gas tank cover - did not seem correct.
I had ordered a new tail pipe for the 1003 (from Kepeich, I believe), and it curiously was two piece - first up and over the axle, then crossed in front of the gas tank, then turned and exited between the gas tank and spring on the left/driver side. I can only envision that this was purposeful to direct the exhaust away from the curb side. My 1003 had the original long tab attached to the frame above the gas tank for attachment of the tail pipe on the left side. The most interesting feature, though, was that the tail pipe was flattened for the final straight part that passed between the gas tank and left spring. You should be able to pick out the two pieces of the tail pipe in the attached photo.

Here are more photos of the 34 muffler hangers, referenced in the 2009 AACA forum. There apparently is a front and rear muffler bracket. I have the frame-mounted portion of the rear muffler bracket in place on my 1104. I need to look, but I may have part of the front muffler bracket attached to my frame also.
Bottom line: Does anyone have these muffler brackets available for purchase? or as a pattern? Attach file: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Darrell,
Sent you a PM over on the AACA Forum. Unfortunately my health, or rather lack of it, prevents me from doing anything further. ![]()
