Appears to be the nose of a late Pierce-Arrow in the rearview photo.

One of my favorite films. It would still hold that rank even without the Packard.

Dave, this video shows both the nose of the black car as well as the nose of the young Faye Dunaway.[quote]

What was taking that valet so long? He only had to drive the car about 50 feet.

So it is a 38? Considering that only 556 were made I'm surprised to see one in Hemmings right now for "only" $158,000.

If it were 2005 I would refinance my house and buy that car just so I could drive it for a few years. :)

True, production #s of 38 and 39 Twelves were low and they often change hands privately, but if not they don't usually sell quickly so it's a rare month that you don't see one or more for sale. I believe there is one on eBay at the moment, and a friend just bought another 38 Twelve earlier this month from eBay for export to Europe. The issue with owning one, for most of us, is more a matter of the $ than the availability in the market.

Yes, the CCCA Grand Classics draw just the finest of the bona fide Classics, mine is pretty humble in those surroundings! Typically there are multiple Grand Classics across the country each year and I'd encourage those who have an interest in such cars to join the CCCA and attend one. The next two that I'm aware of are (1) The Desmond Hotel, Malvern PA April 16-17, and (2) Marriot Stone Mountain Inn, Stone Mountain GA May 14-15.

I believe I'm correct when I say that it's no longer necessary to own a CCCA Classic to join, though of course it adds greatly to the total experience. IMO worth the dues just for the national publication.
