Packard's Unintended Acceleration Problem

It seems Packard has had problems with their own Unintended acceleration problems. Much like Toyota has today.

Why is Packard hiding this problem? Is it software or the Onboard computer?

Oh my f*ING god! Sorry, but I laughed so Damned hard. My car also has an issue accelerating. But I traced it to the complete LACK of a pedal.

No question about it, your fly by wire (or rod in this case) is defective. If only you had an Oslo scope to test the frequency of the problem, or a portable tube tester to check the tubes in the pre-solid state accelerator control.

That is good fun! I wonder how many people will view on YouTube and scratch their head at the hub mounted hand throttle.

funny, but not far from the truth. i have been reading the twin ultramatic manual and stb/sc letters. there were apparently some surging or sudden accelerating going on back in the day on the 55/56. one of the reasons had to do with one of the valve body pieces being put together incorrectly. i did this wrong in my youtube video, but noone caught it. i even asked about it and noone guessed. but, non-the-less, similar issues did exist for Packard.

Great video: I certainly hope that Pakard gets the problem fixed.

Don

You must rate. How do you get your local Packard dealer to answer the phone?

Yes, officer, I know that I was doing 58 in a 35mph zone. It was the unintended acceleration...

Oh, and you'd probably get better results with a Hickok 'black box!'

Great video!
