I bought the gauge I used for the repair pieces at a regular parts store locally--Napa or Carquest. Just a relatively cheap mechanical job. Summit and JC Whitney both list them but the rub seems to be some now use nylon for the tubing so you almost would have to find locally to view it. There are some that advertise repair services in Hemmings last time I looked.

Or is there anyone out there repair that can repair our original ones?

I'm assuming you're speaking of the bulb & capillary type? I don't have my Hemmings handy but there are several guys out there that repair them - do you get Hemmings? I'll be glad to look them up if you don't get the publication. Let me know.

Yes, thanks tbirdman, Abbott is one of the better-known.

Tom, if you're into restoration you really should consider a Hemmings subscription - far more sources of parts and services than you'll ever find by web searching.

Tbirdman,

Thanks. Have written it down and will give them a call in the AM

Owen,

Yes I do understand that Hemmings is a good resource. But this will probably be my only restoration.

I've just had a great experience with John Wolf in Willoughby. OH 440-942-0083.He repaired the temp gauge on my 38 12 roadster.I got it back in a week and he even replaced the shielded copper tubing, and was very fair in his pricing

hal,

Thanks for the other contact

It is nice to have other avenues to go to and to hear first hand on peoples experience with them.

I shall give them both a call today.

If you don't want to do it your self, United Speedometer in Riverside, California does excellent work. They have been around since wheels were wood, men were men and women proud of them. They have done some work for me over the years and it has always been excellent.
