Well, it was definitely too much and at the moment we don't like more detailed news from Japan.
Ok, that makes me even more determined to do it! Please find attached a nice Japanese toycar and don't miss to see the magazines on the hatrack.

As to the car, almost certainly a 1933, probably a Twelve. And with sealed beam headlight conversion kits installed.

Dave, thanks.

Once upon a time Japan was Packard country. The following photograph shows the Packard headquarters in Tokyo, 1932.

Several cues as to the model are inconsistent???

I made the comments below before I read the story.

I can't discern V'd headlight rims which would be on a Super 8 or 12, the fin on the top/back of the headlight shell of a 12, or similar details on the parking light. That points to an Eight or perhaps bad eyesight.

The bumper is the type with the lead weights/springs in the ends, found on 12's and usually Super 8 open cars. They had the flatter caps on '32 as shown as I recall, had a dome shaped over the flat cap in 33-36

Other observations??

Fred, I suspect the Twelve headlight rims went to the trash can with the sealed beam conversion. Can't quite see if the front fender is skirted which would confirm a 1933. Other details to hard to discern. Painted radiator shell with chrome shutters also indicates a Twelve, though of course for a few extra $ you could have that on an Eight or Super Eight. Wish the pictures were a bit sharper and showed a bit more.

The bumper end caps ("flat tops") consistent with factory photos of 1933 Twelves.

COMMENTS ON THE 53 TOY

I had one of these in very nice origianl condition in 1988, light blue. A friend of mine Marv Silverstein was a restorer of Buddy L Toy Trucks and asked if I wanted to sell it. NO thanks, thinking for $100 or so I'd keep it.

A few months late he called and offered $2500. SOLD!

Sorry Dave, I already did my very best.

Mike, the visible BMW magazine tells me, that you are the owner of the little red Packy.
Now comes another Packardlike car, this time it uses a Toyota platform. According to this source it is a "...1985 Paragon Sedan - an attempt to revive Packard using Toyota chassis..."

Last photo is one of the nicer interpretations (in my opinion), or since it is based on a Japanese Toyota is it a translation?
