I have found a 1926 Model 526 touring and am consider.seeing purchasing it. There are 2 issues I would need to replace or repair the exhaust manifold as it is cracked, the other is I would need to Locke door handles. How difficult would the be to locate these items or repair the manifold?

G'day Addtx63,
to PackardInfo! Concerning your questions, 1) For the exhaust manifold it depends on where and how badly it is cracked. Cast iron can be welded but it requires a specialist with the right equipment, as well as the knowledge and experience to be able to make an effective repair. 2) Regarding locking door handles, maybe from a Packard vendor or eBay? I'm sure others with a better handle, pun intended, on these matters will be better able to advise.

And, if you do purchase the '26/28? 526 Touring, I invite you to include it here on PackardInfo in the Packard Owners Registry.

EDIT - Joining your local Packard Club will put you in contact with the other Packard owners in your neck of the woods and through them you might be able to source the parts you need. To find the Packard Club/s in your area, look in PackardInfo's Packard Directory.

...just stop by your local TX Packard Parts Supplier...me. I have a good used intake/exhaust manifold for this car. I think....I have it marked 26-27 so some research, photos or dimensions will be in order. Negative on door handles.

I know of a 1925 236 Touring for sale, with the engine already done and ready to go. It's not a show car, but a great tour car. PM me if you want more details.

If the manifold were the correct one, what would be the price. That information will be helpful in determining our offer on the car.

26-27 Packard Six manifold, $250. $200 if you are a member of a Texas Packard Club. Note a portion of the central flange ears are broken off, as is typical. "allows for a bit more expansion movement" closeup next post.
