At first I thought this was a political thread, but that makes no sense on this website.

Getting back to the original post, I've had better cars GIVEN TO ME.

I think that price should have been $790.00. Unless its upholstered in Dimonds.

Eric,

Maybe it's a clever ploy by the seller, after all he did catch your attention. And if there's someone silly enough out there.........then he laughs all the way to the bank.
Quite possibly just a keyboard slip? After all, your link says 500 while the car in eBay is identified as a 400! Then again he does have a 1950 OLDS 98 FUTURAMIC 4 DR for $89K But It Now! Nicer car than the 400 but not worth $89K either. And in his "About me" link on eBay there a pic of a different and much better Packard but still not $79K's worth.

Kev,

Think you're right, but then again there is no interior pic.

I wrote to the guy asking how he could list it as being in Kingston NH..where I live, and yet the car is in Milo Maine which is a stretch. Then again there is the price..
BTW I've never seen this car in Kingston..it's a small town.

Or his wife told him to sell it and get it out of her yard and sight but he doesn't really want to part with it because he's going to restore it in 10-15 years.

I too sent him a message, but in my smart-a$$ed nature, I decided to have a little fun. This is what I sent: "I really enjoyed your listing, a $500 car that's only worth about $20,000 restored for $79,000, you made my night!"

And this is his reply: "IM GLAD I COULD HELP, "

I'm still rolling over this this morning!

I am shocked and offended at the posts in this "thread". Those '55 Packards were MAGNFICENT monuments to what Packard could do if it really put its heart into what it was trying to do.

In fact..they are such "monuments" to determination, look how they influenced the sale of the '56 Packards. Even greater "monuments" to what Packard was trying to do to itself. Show a little admiration and respect..folks...

If you people KNEW what you were talking about, you'd know that GM and FORD and CHRYSLER were SO taken back and impressed by those sales figures of those high quality post 1950 Packards, that by 1957 they "threw in the towel" and gave up, and started car clubs for their own brands...making "conversion kits" so you could install that brilliant Packard ULTRAMATIC transmission in GM, FORD, and CHRYSLER cars... (to improve reliability and performance...of course....!)
