Greetings,

I am having problems finding a short in my electrical system and it looks as though it might be the limit relay. Can anyone tell me what it does and if there is a substitute for it or use a heavier fuse.

I've replaced the headlights, taillights with LED's so we're drawing less amps.

Thanks

Are you talking about the cut-out on the generator or the circuit protector on the firewall? Is your generator producing amps?

There are several insulation layers involved with the main fuse located on the firewall. If those layers are cracked and/or broken, that will create a huge problem. Your owner's manual describes this component well, with a cutaway diagram.

Here is the one I took apart and restored for the Speedster. 20-amp/25-volt fuse. I wouldn't put in anything stronger than that.

More images of restoration, and of wiring into car. The mica-like material is very fragile. I was given a piece of modern electrical insulation material, which allowed me to replace one of the sections.
