I don't know how proud of that new record I would be. 100+ years of technology, space-age materials, and wind tunnel tested aerodynamics, all to beat the record by 12 MPH! Seems a litle anti-climatic to me.
(I bet Turbopacman could tweak it up to at least 150)

I agree. We had steam trains in the 30's and 40's that regularly went over 100 mph. Perhaps someone needs to rethink how to build a steam engine.

Insignificant record breaking! I agree too. Just compare the SIZE of the two cars to each other. The size difference makes the speed difference even less significant.

The Stanley wasn't exactly what one would call a Streamliner. Close to the aerodynamics of a brick. I wonder what the rated HP of each are.

I think the most aamazing thing is that record stood for over 100 years. Give the persons credit who put the effort forth to break that record.
Just think the Brits and Aussies hold the top speed record on land and on water. John F. Shireman
