Scotty dogs were popular pre-war. I wonder if Macauley had one and had it , or some similar breed, sculpted in a running position for use as the hood ornament. That would be a very personal (and a rich man's) touch.

"O say, Edward, that's an unusual mascot on the front there."

"That's my dog Tige (an American Pit Bull Terrier), he lives in a shoe. I'm Buster Brown. Look for me in there, too!" Ah Yes, Saturday morning radio with Big John and Sparky. And don't forget Midnight the Cat ("N-N-n-nice.)

I once saw an older woman driving a black Jag XJ6 with the license N-NICE.

It's stream of consciousness, guys. It comes from too much confinement.

Joe, their theme song went something like: "If you go out in the woods today you better not go alone...for today is the day the teddy bears have their picnic..." I'm fine, just fine. Now, where is my secret decoder ring? It was just here a little while ago.

The car was known as the Brown Bomber -- it was brown.

Apparently the hood ornament has survived. I photographed it at a flea market vendor at Hershey this past year (2022). The vendor knew what he had, and I would have had to sell two cars in order to make its purchase.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the original was made by someone in the shop as a joke. Otherwise, you would think it would appear in more than just one photo shoot.

Macauley: "Ha ha ha, guys. Funny. Take a few photos, then put the other one back on."

It looks like a novelty item. There was a cartoon character called Bonzo Dog and they were selling hood ornaments. Back in those days we actually had winters with enough snow for dog sled races as well. Today our winters are like Tennessee 60 years ago.
