Today I built the brackets for the trunk lid hinges. I also burnt up some welding wire.

Happy Easter to one and all!

Yesterday I was able to make a little progress... mostly welding and grinding. I also tacked the trunk hinges in place, clamped the inner trunk lid to the hinges and shaped the trunk lid to fit.

As soon as my coffee is done I'm going out to the shop so see if I can make a little progress before the festivities begin.

My grandson spent the weekend with us... so Brody and I worked on his rat rod gokart. He does really good welding for a 7 year old. I know it doesn't have anything to do with Packards other than my project slipped slightly... but getting the kids involved is where it's at!!!

Today I designed the adapter for a GM thermostat housing to the 1929 head I recently bought on eBay. The 29 head had rust damage around the edge. While I was working to remove the rust a metal sleeve came out opening a passage to a vertical bearing. As you can see in the picture I've bored out the ID for a new heavy sleeve. If all works out I'll have an update with the details of the new 160 degree thermostat for the speedster in a couple of days.

Finished the thermostat upgrade today! Looks ok. I think it will look even better after painting. I believe it will work very well. Next is the distributor upgrade... stay tuned.
