A hood pad can make a big difference in engine noise and make closing the hood much quieter.

It will also protect the hood finish from extreme heat and help retain some underhood engine heat when parked in cold weather.

A hood pad may help keep heat out of the car if you use a cowl vent in hot weather.

This time it's spreading to family. My brother in law saw this beautiful car on Facebook marketplace, and the price was right. He and I drove 3 hours yesterday afternoon to go pick it up.

It's a 1952 200 Deluxe Touring sedan. Stored indoors most of its life, so zero rust. Original interior, excellent chrome, decent/good paint. We've got some engine issues to sort out. He's going to start a thread here in the day or two. We'll need some guidance as we work our way through getting this back on the road.

Kevin,

Need I remind you to ask your B-I-L to include his '52 200 Deluxe Touring sedan in the Packard Vehicle Registry when he joins PackardInfo?

I beat you to it. He's already been told to add it to the registry. Probably within the next few days.

I hate mice.

Thought I was done with them, but somehow one got into the Panama. I'll be going overboard with traps tonight. There will be no survivors.

I didn't get my dad's '38 running well enough to make it, but I was able to bring the Panama out to a local show. Maybe the last big one for the year. Runs and drives fantastically.

Not much news on the Panama. The starter is getting worse, so I will plan on rebuilding it this winter. Also going to replace the cable from the battery to the starter, as the original one is in very bad shape.

But I did drive it today to work, and picking up kids tonight. It was good to get it out to exercise.

Took the longest drive I've ever done in the Panama yesterday. Up to this point I've kept it very local since I was afraid something would go wrong and I would be stranded.

A friend drove his '57 Chevy and my wife and I took the Panama down the beautiful Yakima River Canyon. 60+ miles of fantastic cruising. 50-55 mph the whole way. Car never got warm, brakes were great, smooth on the road. Some definite body roll into the corners, but that's part of the fun. The only issue is my speedo cable was definitely making noise towards the end. I will need to pull it and lubricate it.

Overall very pleased with how it drove and gave me a lot of confidence for longer cruises.
