More pictures, mostly of the engine being painted

John does have a nice collection of vintage service tools, and here is a picture of us setting up the distributor using one of his beautifully restored machines. It was a treat to watch him get everything dialed in on this.

Last pictures are the engine ready to go back to another friends shop where the car was at. A truly exciting day.
My dad let me use his 1940 Ford Pickup to deliver the engine. An appropriate delivery vehicle!

Back in the car the engine went!

Pictures show John and I making some adjustments once we got it running. Ran great! Had a few small things to fix, one was an exhaust leak that my dad was able to help us with. One of the pictures shows him reaming a bushing for the heat riser on a mill.

Finally being able to drive the car! Here’s it with our 1955 Chevy 210 Sedan
Second picture, getting to share the car with some relatives!

Third picture, it’s first show. The Big 4 picnic celebrating So Cals Luxury car clubs, Packard, Lincoln, Cadillac and Imperial. A great first event, the car performed flawlessly!!

Nice work on the engine rebuild. A freshly painted engine is always nice to look at. Car looks great overall. I love the coupes and the maroon color is classy.

A pleasure to see all the nice work done to bring this Packard back to its glory, and especially so for me as my first was also a 1939 that I bought as a teenager in the ‘60s.

Thanks for all the kind comments!
Trying to wrap up the recap so I can get to some modern day projects, but I don’t really wanna leave out some of the fun times we’ve had with the car

In October of 2019 it had about 1200 miles on the engine so we adjusted the valves, and it was ready to a road trip to Palm Springs for a PI meet. We had a great time, went to a nice car show they have at the air museum there.

Photos are from the host hotel, at the show, and Bazil driving the car home after the show and lunch with some friends! A terrific weekend, and the car never missed a beat!
