If your Executive engine had Packard script rocker covers then I would presume they picked them straight out of the parts bin and went with the same 56 Packard colors used on the covers of other 56 senior engines. The 56 Packard rocker colors were silver with red script on a bronze engine while 55 Packards had black with creme script and an ivory engine.

I don't have anything showing an original Executive engine compt. I had read somewhere that other than emblems, a senior front end, and changing to Packard cued side trim they did very little else to the Clipper Custom when making it a Packard. If they kept the Clipper green engine then possibly they could have done something special with the rocker covers but doubt they did.

Here are a couple of photos showing the engine of what is purported to be an original and very low mileage 56 Four Hundred.

Executives went with the Clipper colors in the engine compartment so you would have the bright green metallic engine but with silver "Packard" valve covers with red lettering. Am about 90% certain on that.

Engine color is green, so it could be the bright green metallic.

Just an other question: what is the part in the red circle on the picture below?

It is the solenoid of the window washer and is, I believe, part of the pulsating washer system. I have them too but have never worked on them so someone else can surely describe them better.

P.J., not sure if you were questioning the entire unit within your circle or just the little solenoid. The entire unit is the windshield washer assembly which for 1956 cars was relocated to that position when the car was equipped with the push button transmission control.

Executive is a Packard, not a Clipper!

I was merely pointing out the difference between Packards and Clippers, not calling the Executive a Clipper.

I was simply clarifying for others who might not know that.

Got it, seems we were trying to say similar things.

Ok, I have the metal bracket, but the rest of the parts are missing on my car...

I picked up the engin block from the machinist. It's now bored +.030
The car is not matching number as the number on the block is 5587-6619. I checked the differences: on this engine, carburator is a Rochester 4GC, as my car originaly has a Carter WCFB. Is it the only difference to go from 260 hp to 275 hp?
