It's that "prominent UT teaching family" that caused the decimal point to shift to the right a spot or two. Good luck unless it shifts back where it belongs.

"Prominent Utah teaching family" - Probably some kind of crackpot stuff.

You know post-war packard don't go for that much.(from what I see, unless a caribbean) a drivable ford/chevy of said year goes for that much sometimes more and more were made and survived ............. a man can dream. All I'm saying is that classic cars goes for what people are willing to pay for them.

There is a glut of 51-54s out there. Probably the best value in old cars available. Perhaps that is why more and more of the younger guys are getting into them. But frankly, thats a $1500 car with interior, paint, and transmission work needed.

That is what he wants for it, probably because he is still attached to it. But, if someone takes him up on that offer, then he is the smart one. He is a fellow Texan and Packardinfoer.

Kevin, I believe you are right. Spent last Friday wandering around the big Carlisle show. Even if I discount the show prices heavily, there is NO '50s car you can buy as cheaply as a 51-54 junior sedan, with the 55-56 junior sedans close on their heels. My take is that a lot of folks salted them away in barns because "they don't make Packards anymore" and now there is a very good supply. Which is actually a good thing as I anticipate using my 54 Thousanddollarwonder as a foul weather beater. I patted it lovingly on the fender upon returning from the carshow and whispered "I am glad you are not a Chevrolet".
