G'day Bob,

to Packardinfo. Sorry can't answer your question, but there's plenty of knowledgeable and friendly Packard people here who will I'm sure.

And could you please include your Packard/s in the Owner Registry together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it/them?

you are going to have to fabricate a tool to remove the jets. I have a machine shop, so all I had to do was get a piece of steel and mill out a rectangular, rounded sides to fit around jets so that they can be unscrewed. When you get the kit you will be able to see what you will need. If no one else can help you, let me know and if I have the time perhaps I can do something for you. Also get some neetsfoot oil (I think that is how to spell it) for the leather on the plunger. You might even be able to salvage the old one. And be careful not to over tighten the fitting where the gas line comes into the carburetor. Very easy to break the bowl there. If the fitting does not want to come out, you just might leave it alone.

You can buy excellent kits from Daytona Parts in Florida, or have them do the complete rebuild if needed. They are very highly recommended! You can also get the kits from almost any of the national Packard vendors like Kanters, Merritt, etc. Google Daytona Parts and you'll find their contact information.

Thanks for the info. I have rebuild several of the carbs and have made all the tools to do them. I know that the accelerator pump plungers are larger than the E-22 carbs and were real scarce at one time. I will try the Daytona mentioned and will call Fred Mauck to see if he has a kit

Thanks Bob

Bob,

As you say "alas". And congratulations on the Pebble Beach win. But if you ever do own one, you know where to find us!

Bob,

I believe Fred's source for the kits is Daytona. I bought a kit from Fred at one of the PI swapmeets, and it was a Daytona package.

So if Fred doesn't have what you need in stock, then give Daytona a call.
