We were at a car show in Santa Maria CA. We saw a 1934 Phaeton which had the suspension chopped up and modified with a hydraulic system so it could be bounced up and down. A crate engine V8 was installed. There owner thought he could get $60K or so for the car. I informed him it would be worth 3 to 5 times if properly restored to it's original shape.

I looked at that poor thing and then the eBay Bot sent me an email to "make an offer on" it.

I should. How does $10 'Murrikan sound?

There is a 1949 Station Sedan in auction on AutoHunter which appears to be a nice older restoration.

Interesting................

Is the large Packard script on the sides of the hood original?

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

No, the script on the hood is not an original feature. Nor are many other features on that car - it's a mongrel.

1947 Clipper for sale on Marketplace. In GA. Looks to be a deluxe - they could have wiped the dust off of it before taking pictures, and maybe even rolled it outside. They say the battery won't hold a charge overnight, which sounds like some nasty dead short somewhere, and Wat just loves sorting out electrical issues. Can't see for certain if it has overdrive - it may well not.

My guess is my standard offer for a presentable Clipper sedan which isn't running: $5K.

The first link was not exactly what I expected and not at all appropriate!

Owen, didn't think so. To me it looks reasonable enough if ostentatious, but I'm not familiar with Packards of those years so I trust what y'all are saying

What's the point of buying a running car then just garaging it for years straight? I'm always a bit confused to see that happen.
