One for the 54, another for the 37.

I dropped the two front fenders that I picked up in Nashville, which came from Utica, off with Vince to get the cracks over wheel arches fixed. This is beyond my metal shaping and welding skills because of all the compound curves.

The fenders need more work than just that long term, but this will return them to functional state.

Not sure if unique to 37 fenders, but every used 37 fender I've seen, develops a crack at the top of the wheel arch.

I hope to get those back at the end of the week.

Sympathetic vibration and metal fatigue. Common on all clam shell style fenders. Just think of all the years these cars travelled on gravel roads too.

Another project I got done this weekend was completing the new rumbleseat drip tray. What a pain. Hopefully it last another 85 years. The tray is now a thicker guage then what was originally there. Sealed seam sealer, painted and given a light coat of Flexseal. I hope I never see it again.

Also, while rebuilding the rumble seat area, I am trying to document all the wood sizes and shapes to help the next guy out hopefully.

I still need to verify a few more pieces and then double-check all the dimensions.

The metalwork looks great but where are the mysterious loops? Just kidding and job well done!

Those loops are in the trash! They had been there for a long time, just as rusted in place as everything else. They had to be cut out to free that inner stiffener plate.

Restoration Specialties sells them in a few sizes. I know you want to do a perfect and authentic job on the Jackard now you know they belong in there and where. For some hold down purpose.

Started working on the missing wood from the rumble seat area that supports the side panels. The area of wood behind the front seat will be different than stock since I have a split seat vs an normal bench.
