Where did you source your fender welting? Looks like a good fit.

It's from Restoration Specialties. Here is the link to the part:

Well, after some head-scratching and measuring, I think this is my only viable solution for redoing the Rube Goldberg throttle pedal and linkage.

Basically, adopting a floor-mounted gas pedal, where the arm lever comes out the bottom. In this case, it would be low on the toeboard. This type of pedal is for a throttle cable setup. While the factory pedal is floor mounted, the push rod comes off nearer the top of the pedal. Where it comes through, the firewall is so close to the Jaguar motor on essentially three sides that there is no matter of adapting that allows for linkage or even a cable setup to work correctly and safely.

With this bottom throw pedal, the arm is now lower on the toe board and further away from the engine. So I can then use a throttle cable to go up and over the engine along the firewall and then figure out a mount for under the carbs. Before ordering anything, I need to do some additional measurements to ensure everything will fit and work. Also, I need to try to ballpark the length of the throttle cable I am going to need. I imagine it's going to be fairly long. Then I can see if I can adapt the factory pedal cover to bolt on top of this to disguise it a bit.

You'll also have to calculate the travel to be sure to get full throttle when floored and none when released at an appropriate height/angle.

I am sure there will need to be some type of bell crank arrangement at the carb side to translate pedal throw to carb throw.

I am going to try one more thing before replacing the entire pedal, as that is one way of operation due to having to cut the toeboard for the new pedal arm. Also, when I got under there to look, even in that lower area, it was pretty tight with the Jag bellhousing. So, only a 50/50 shot that would work.

So going to start with trying to find an original pedal push rod first. The one in the car is a piece of all thread with a blob of metal welded on the end and ground into a rough ball shape for the pedal socket. I want to start with the correct throw and geometry first and see what exact clearance I have.

If anyone has one available, please let me know. It looks like this:

On a side note, when I was looking at the parts book, I came across GRP 9.015 PN 338580 (Surps: 316169), which is listed as Weather Seal, Pedal Push Rod. I see that Max Merrit has it listed, but Steele does not.

Is this just a simple flat piece of rubber with a hole and a slit that is glued to the toeboard? The picture on Max's website makes it appear that way. They have it listed for all models 1935-1947.

It looks correct. But since I don't have an original, I am not sure of the length. All 1937 Juniors would be the same part if you have another one to compare it to.

Thanks!

Yes. It is the original from my 37. PM me your address. I have an old pedal too, but not the original for 37. Do you want that too? I swapped mine out to the original 37. Got it from Gerry SW. It came with a rod.
