According to the shop manual (1938 Super Eight), flow is "....through the hollow camshaft to each camshaft bearing and then through radial holes in the front camshaft bearing to the timing chain". Though I don't think it answers you exact question, you might want to read Section 212 - Oiling System.

I assume that the 38 Super 8 is the same as the 37, in which case there is no plug in the end of the shaft. Just a slight restriction. Can't seem to be able to upload some photos for. Will get Mal to do it when he gets back next week.

The 37 and 38 are different in many ways. However, in this respect they are the same.
If you don't get your specific answer, I will try to check my 38 for you in a day or so. My engine is in storage.
