G'day all, There are three parts to this procedure,
Part A......Fitment of floor change top. I am trying to attach the file today without success. Hopefully Mal can advise me on how to achieve this.

Part B......Fitment of the electrical system for kickdown (R6) and engagement and kickdown (R9)

Part C......Chassis modifications to fit the overdrives to
non original fitment Packards.

Tried to load the file myself but I think it's just too big, 857K. Sent you an email about it and I've also referred the matter to BigKev as you'll see from subsequent correspondence. I believe that matter is now in good hands and will be sorted out soon.

After working my butt off today chopping down trees at my mom's place, I found time to pull the O/D trans out of my '53 Clipper and pick up the '37 115c trans. What I found out is this: On Peter's modification, you have to grind on the trans case and the shifter top. On the '53 O/D case, there's no grinding required, as the tab that's in the way on the '39 box is not there on the '53. I don't know what other years will not have this tab, I'm assuming all '51-'54 are the same. You will have to widen the shifter forks, however. I'll keep everyone updated as this progresses, but I think all I'm going to have to do is widen the forks.

Looking at the '48-'54 Parts book plates, it looks like the box with the tab is the "R-9" type, and the one without the tab is the "R-11" type. This is a good thing, as if I remember right, the "R-11" is the stronger O/D unit, as it has 4 planetary gears. There's so much grease and crap on it, I haven't checked to see exactly what it is. I'll keep everyone updated.

UPDATE.... It's an R-11.

G'day all, especially Mal and Big Kev. If you think that it's suitable for the "how to" articles, then please do. I was interested to read Eric's post on the R11 not needing the adaptor plate modified. That is good news for anyone wishing to alter an R11. I was not sure about the R11. I shall post the Electrical and chassis mods for the six and 120's first chance that I get. Best regards Peter Toet
